What it is
Do you know what you're missing?
You've probably done some driving holidays, you might have done some track days, you know your car, you drive well, perhaps better than most. That's not the end of your development as a driver though - that's just a good foundation and one we're excited to build with you..
With this training, we present you with the full police Roadcraft framework. It's about a dozen concepts that need full understanding to deliver superior, safe driving in all conditions. Real roads are more complicated than a racetrack and this system recognises that.
By mastering every element of the framework, you'll get greater reward from driving. It's not about speed or risk taking, it's about doing it well. Thrills achieved from flow, smoothness and a lack of drama as you slip through traffic.
The thrill of a good drive should come from a job done well, not risk taking.
We'll cover twelve topics, including:
- Vehicle balance - understanding the physics of corning, load on tyres etc.
- Road positioning - you may have been exposed to this already. We explain in depth how to improve sight lines by positioning your car more deliberately.
- Speed - we can't not talk about speed when dealing with high performance cars. Managing the slow and the fast and how to transition between the two takes discipline and skill.
- Overtaking - a decent overtake isn't about a quick peek and nailing it! We'll show you how to calmly assess, decide and execute overtakes without drama.
- Managing the drivers around you - we'll share strategies for dealing with the car in front, the car behind and other cars about to interact with you.
Advanced driving has traditionally had a somewhat stuffy image which has probably prevented many enthusiasts from engaging and reaping the benefits.

Briefing & Assessment
You'll have spoken to your coach previously, but we'll recap and make a plan for the day. To the car - check it out, check out your driving position and head off an a relaxed assessment drive.
10:30
The Framework
The instructor will quickly address any bad habits you may have acquired and explain why it's important to address them. We'll set baseline scores for your driver skills map, explaining each element of the 12 point framework we teach.
11:30
Break and Reflect
It's still early in the day, but you should now have a good understanding of what the Roadcraft framework is trying to give you. Quick break and then back behind the wheel to practice The System.
12:30
Lunch (provided)
A light lunch and time to reflect on what's been learned and to quiz the instructor on the what, why and how. A plan will be made for the afternoon.

Drawing it Together
There's a lot to take in, but now you'll start using the various techniques together. We're aiming for a smooth and balanced drive, rigorous observation and a constantly evolving driving plan.
15:00
Pushing the Envelope
Now you understand planning, we're looking for a crisp process, great road positioning, managing the cars around you and scything through traffic safely if possible. Overtakes without drama and your passenger enjoying the ride without clinging on!

Winding it Down
You should be knackered by this point! We'll have you doing running commentary, rolling the car around on its axes and calling out what's happening 20 seconds ahead. We'll also talk to you about the mental discipline required to maintain intensive driving.

Call it a Day
Back home for tea and crumpets. You will be buzzing by this point as by now your car will make so much more sense. No more point-and-squirt, you should now appreciate how use your car's attributes with finesse and make it dance.
