Welsh to Roll Back 20mph Limits
U Turn announced on Default Speed Limit
In an unusual move for any government, the Welsh Assembly has said it will reconsider the blanket adoption of 20mph limits which was implemented last year.
Newly-appointed transport secretary Ken Skates stated that they will be revising guidance to councils on which roads can be exempted from the new lower 20mph speed limit.
The hugely unpopular move has confused many drivers particularly where road markings and signage haven't correctly reflected the new limits.
Precise details of how the changes will take effect remain to be unveiled, but it's expected that 20mph limits will stay in place near schools, hospitals and nurseries.
Currently 37% of the road network in Wales is subject to 20mph limits.
